Make an Android app all on your own. No programming experience needed to get your first Mobile Application on the Market—videos are easy to follow, and you can just swap out the sample content with your own.

Everything is simplified, so the guesswork is eliminated. You could get an app created and published to the Market in a single day! Here's the process that the App Coder training goes through:

1. Setup All the development software is free and available to the public. The problem is, it's really tough to get it all installed and know what you need. Remove the complications and see what you need to install and how to set it up.

2. Code Watch the coding process and pick up the skills needed to make more apps and get them ready to be published (this means getting the APK file, the certificate which is required, setting up basic security, testing it on a phone). It's all the basics. This is not an in-depth course into the complicated programming of Java™ and XML. This is how you get started. You still get an app out of it, plus all of the nitty-gritty things in the process of getting apps on the Market™.

3. Graphics A brief introduction to the design work. This is not about designing, but rather about the formatting and file sizes of the graphics that are required for apps. Be sure to take care in the design of your app, people expect higher-quality images and graphics in the mobile market.

4. Publish Setting up a developer account, uploading the file, and finding it on the Market in minutes.

5. Template Code to make the whole thing easier and get you making more apps quicker. Use the same code structure and switch out the content.

Pull out your phone and download, “Fondant Pumpkins,” from the Android Marketplace™ to see for yourself what you’ll learn by the end of the training.

Wondering why make an Android™ app?

First of all, Android™ is open source, which means anyone can develop apps for the Market™ making it a great starting place for you in the mobile industry. You don't need to go through an approval process to publish an app and you only need an Android™ developer account (a one-time $25 fee versus $99/year for competing markets).

Android™ is also growing extremely fast and holds a huge share of the market in the mobile industry.

You can use your apps to bring in some extra cash with mobile advertising or by selling your app on the Market™. NOTE: monetizing apps with advertising is not covered in the video training because of the diversity and range of venues for advertising. Plus, the advertising companies should give you tutorials and code for implementing their particular ads.

Mobile applications have become a superpower in the world. You can't afford to ignore it or pass up the opportunity to contribute to it. Businesses find great value in creating apps because of the marketing potential and exposure. It also benefits customers and clients, even if apps are just informational.

Take advantage of the mobile market. Begin here.

FAQs

Do I have to be a programmer?

No! You don't need any programming background to create your own app based on this design (the eBook app). Just follow along on the training videos and insert your own content. However, if you do have programming experience, it is always an advantage, especially if you want to get into more complicated or advanced functionalities that are NOT covered in App Coder (like GPS, video, SMS, games, etc.).

Will this work for both Mac and PC?

Yes, Eclipse and the Android™ SDK are available for both platforms and function in essentially the same way (shortcut keys will differ). All the videos are shown on the PC side, however, so Mac users simply need to download the correct Mac-version of all the software and remember that shortcut keys are different.

NOTE: Steps 6 & 7, Creating Icons and Taking Screenshots, use Adobe Photoshop® (any version works). Photoshop® is NOT required to make an app or take screenshots, that's just the software I happen to use. If you don't have Photoshop®, simply research/use your own screen-capture method and use other image-processing software (there's lots of free programs out there that do the exact same thing).

How does the royalty-free license work?

You can use and modify the Template Code in this package for any work, product, or project you are creating. You can sell the resulting work or product with no royalties ever needing to be paid. The only thing you can't do is turn around and sell our package to compete against us! You can contact support if you have any questions.

What does it cost to publish an Android™ app?

There is a one-time $25 registration fee, paid to Google™ to use the Android™ Market. Other than that, there is no extra cost--all the software needed to develop an app is provided for free from Oracle™ (Eclipse and Java JDK) and Google™ (Android™ SDK and ADT emulator plugin).

How long do I have to wait for my app to be approved and put on the Market?

No waiting! Android™ is open-source, so once your app is uploaded and published, it goes straight to the Market!
